Philosophy
Open Gate's educational philosophy is founded upon the developmental readiness theory (Gesell Institute): i.e., that children's growth and development progresses by predictable stages, that each child progresses at his own unique pace, and that optimum, well-balanced development occurs when the natural pace is respected. Therefore, the emphasis is on social-emotional development, physical skills, competence and independence in daily routines, creativity and imagination, and self esteem as prerequisites to formal schooling, and not on early academics.
Parent Education
Classes meet twice a month (7:00-10:00 p.m.) and are taught by your child's teacher. They give parents an opportunity to learn about child development from experts, discuss the preschool classroom experience, and develop close ties with other parents through shared experiences.
What will you find when you open the Gate?
