Parent Participation
Parent participation is an essential component to Open Gate and is achieved by each family in four ways:
Classroom Participation
The parent works in the class one day per week per child, rotating each week through a different area such as the game room, the art room, the kitchen, etc.
Parent Education
Parents are required to attend two evening parenting classes per month. Most classes are held at Open Gate from 7-10pm on Tuesday evenings. One or both parents may attend.
Service Commitment
Parents are required to fulfill a certain number of service hours each year: 10 for a child in the 2-day class, 12 for the 3-day class, and 14 for the 4-day class. If you have children in two classes, you must fulfill the service obligation for the older child. There are a variety of ways in which service hours can be achieved -- from maintenance tasks to volunteering for events to holding a position on our Board.
Fundraising
Each family is required to raise $250 each year for Open Gate. Our Fundraising Committee provides families with a variety of ways in which to achieve that goal.
What will you find when you open the Gate?
Fun, and friends, I just can't wait!
